Network Rail Level Crossing Closures

Twyford Road Level CrossingNetwork Rail proposes to close 130 level crossings in East Anglia, 109 of which are part of Rights of Way. Eight of these with a Right of Way are in Hertfordshire with four proposed to close between Bishop’s Stortford and Sawbridgeworth.

Please sign our petition so we can show Network Rail that there's a huge amount of support for keeping level crossings open.

East Herts Ramblers Funds New Kissing Gate

08 P1010796

Thanks to East Herts Ramblers members nominating our group when booking holidays with Ramblers Worldwide Holidays we now have a new kissing gate in our area. The gate is located at the junction of two well-used footpaths (Little Hadham 10 and 54) near Westland Green. The gate was installed by Countryside Management Services, in this instance by a small team of volunteers led by East Herts Ramblers member Steve Kiln, including long time member Betty Roberts.

Steve and Betty have worked on dozens of footpath improvement projects in Hertfordshire over many years (over 20 years in Betty’s case), including clearing paths, kissing gate installation, footbridge repair, waymark posts, hedge trimming and more besides. Keeping our footpaths clear and serviceable relies on volunteers and if you are interested in helping please visit their website Countryside Managements Services, or phon01992 88433

Hopefully this is the first of many footpath improvements that East Herts Ramblers fund, so if a member of our group please continue to nominate us when booking holidays with Ramblers Worldwide Holidays.
